On Monday 21st February, SIMI launched a new report “Reducing light fleet carbon emissions to achieve Irish Government Targets” commissioned by SIMI co-authored by ARUP and Jim Power which outlines the enormous challenge Ireland is facing in reducing emissions from the light vehicle fleet.
The report reviews global best practice, existing Irish practice, and potential future options to accelerate the achievement of emissions reduction targets and increase the uptake of zero emissions vehicles in line with the ambitions of the Irish Government.
A reduction in emissions, will not be achievable without Government incentives and supports dealing with the oldest polluting cars, while exponentially increasing the charging infrastructure nationwide.
The report's release is receiving strong national coverage.
